Karmic relationships are those relationships that we have with members of our “soul group” they provide us with the karmic lessons that we need before we finally meet our life partner.
But many people become very attached to their karmic partners, and want to know if karmic relationships can work long term.
But before we can dig into that, we need to know what karmic relationships are and the patterns they follow.
Karmic Relationship Patterns
The problem is that karmic relationships begin in an exciting way, with a period of intense passion and intense attraction.
People dive into karmic relationships and immerse themselves in it.
There is always a strong and mutual emotional and physical attraction in karmic relationships.
But these relationships are never easy. While passion and attraction are great for a relationship, it cannot sustain it on its own.
That might be the first karmic lesson you internalise, but it won’t be the last.
Karmic relationships are dense with karmic lessons. To the spiritually unaware, it just seems as though there are compatibility issues, too many fights and not enough calm communication.
But in a karmic relationship, all of these things are providing challenges designed to teach you spiritual karmic lessons.
Every painful fight and every clash of personality helps your soul to evolve and moves you along your spiritual journey.
Unfortunately, this can go too far and take a dark turn.
Karmic Relationships & Abuse
There is an unfortunate side effect of all the passion paired with the arguments that occur so often in karmic relationships, and that is that too many of them become abusive.
The important thing to remember is that if you find yourself in an abusive relationship, no good force in the universe would want you to remain in it.
In a karmic relationship, the moment it becomes abusive is the moment at which there are no more useful lessons to learn by staying.
But there is a misconception that many – or even all – karmic relationships turn abusive. This is simply not true.
Most karmic relationships are merely tumultuous and challenging, but the lessons we learn transform us so that we naturally end the relationship as we become more evolved people or we change the relationship to something else.
There are many instances of people maintaining a friendship after ending a karmic relationship, even if (as it tends to do) it ends poorly.
Healing & Symptoms In Karmic Relationships
The whole point of a karmic relationship is to progress along your spiritual journey by learning karmic lessons and healing your soul’s old wounds.
Here are the symptoms of being in a karmic relationship:
- There are extreme highs and extreme lows, where you never know day to day whether you’re going to get along and be ecstatic or clash and be miserable.
- Feelings of jealousy, obsession, paranoia, and other base emotions are frequent and cause plenty of arguments.
- The relationship has been on-again-off-again for a while, but your patterns never change.
- The connection is very much personal, meaning that you tend to spend most of your time just with each other and away from friends and family.
There are more signs that you can look for, but these are the dead giveaways.
When you realise you are in a karmic relationship, that usually rings the death knell for it.
Realisation usually comes when the lessons become apparent, and you can move on. At this point, you enter into the healing stage.
This should be a time that you spend outside of a relationship, contemplating the lessons you can take from your previous karmic relationship and empowering yourself to take them forward.
Meditation is the best tool for this, and many people like to take some time away if their lifestyle permits.
And as a final thought, let’s return to that first question. Can karmic relationships work long term?
Yes, but that is down to you. If you can forgive them for their flaws if you can work to heal the old wounds with the lessons you have learned, perhaps the relationship can continue.
But it will never be the same as it used to be, and you will probably find that once a healthy relationship is possible both of you will be ready to move on to pastures new.
