We collect many soul connections during our lifetime, and sometimes (for whatever reason) we need to sever one or more of those connections.

This is what we mean when we talk about “cutting the cord” in a spiritual sense.

But what exactly does this entail, and what are the effects?

We’ve put together a short guide on the spiritual meaning of cord cutting to give you the lowdown.

Spiritual Connections Meaning

A spiritual connection exists on the astral plane, but we can feel its effects on the physical plane.

In essence, it is a cord of spiritual energy that connects our souls on the astral plane by linking together the subtle bodies of two individuals.

These subtle bodies exist within our physical bodies and contain the chakra energy centres.

The cord allows for the transfer back and forth of spiritual energies, which is how we turn a normal, non-spiritual relationship into a deep, soul level relationship.

Reasons To Cut The Cord

There are many reasons why a spiritual connection cord might need to be severed.

For instance, when ending a relationship, it is often necessary to cut off the spiritual connection to avoid the temptation to get back together or to stop an ex from interfering with our ability to move on in a new relationship.

Other reasons include bad relationships, one-sided friendships and family relationships that have become too damaging to maintain.

Cord Cutting: A Quick Guide

Cutting the cord is quite a simple thing on paper, but in reality, it can prove challenging.

The key is to follow these three steps:

1. Formally end the relationship with the person. We must make it clear to them and to ourselves that the relationship has ended and the cord is to be cut.

This commits us to cutting the cord, putting up a barrier to stop us from a relapse.

2. Stop all contact. Spiritual connections are strengthened by interaction, so removing them from our phones and devices, social media and social life is vital to preparing the cord for cutting.

3. Remove their influence. We might not notice it right away, but our life might be entwined with the other person, and therefore there might be a lot of reminders of them incidental in our daily life.

We need to rid ourselves of possessions that remind us of them (burn any love notes, photos or mementoes), change our habits if they remind us of them, and otherwise work to stop thinking about them at all.

Once those three steps are completed, the connection will be disconnected.

Of course, that looks easy. And of course, it isn’t.

By far the hardest step is the third and last one, as it requires spiritual work for us to gain enough control over ourselves to stop thinking about someone.

So don’t worry if you struggle the first time you have to do a bit of spiritual cord cutting.
