We have all experienced that strange phenomenon where we find ourselves waking up in the middle of the night on a regular basis, at exactly the same time each night.
We find ourselves pulled from sleep and, in the haze of our waking selves rebooting, reached for the clock or our phone to check the time.
And with our brains working at low capacity, we see that familiar time and curse our bodies for insisting that we lose sleep, in the same way, every night.
That is natural enough. But things like that do not usually happen for no reason.
Of course, there may be a straightforward explanation.
It might be that at exactly the time you wake up each night, there is some kind of disturbance that you do not necessarily hear but wakes you nonetheless, giving the appearance of an unprompted interruption of sleep.
But when there is no explanation, we continue to look for an explanation.
Depending on what time you regularly wake during the night, there may well be a spiritual explanation.
When The Veil Is Thinnest
It is common knowledge in many cultures that 4 am is the time at which the boundaries that separate the physical realm from the spiritual realm are at their weakest.
Anyone who regularly walks in the pre-dawn hours will tell you that there is an eeriness to the world at that time.
They will also tell you that they feel and think differently at that time.
For many writers, poets and artists this quality of the pre-dawn hours is what pulls them outside at an hour when the rest of us would much rather be asleep.
This is because the physical realm is our primary experience during the rest of the day.
It acts as a veil, protecting our unevolved minds from the magnificence of the spiritual realm.
And at 4 am, the veil is at its thinnest.
Rude Awakenings
So when we are pulled from sleep at 4 am – at the time the veil is thinnest – it is very likely that this is no coincidence.
We are receiving a message from the spiritual realm.
It is at this time that our spirit guides deliver the most important messages, the ones most key to our spiritual journey.
They catch us when the veil is thinnest so that they have the most clarity in connection, and for another, much more human reason.
When we are pulled from sleep, our minds are transitioning back into the physical realm in which we live.
We are rendered, in no uncertain terms, stupid.
That is to say; we lack the busy thoughts that the day brings and are much, much more receptive to messages from our spirit guides.
So what should we do if we find ourselves pulled from sleep at 4 am every night?
Listen. Do not curse your spirit guides for waking you.
Accept the message, write it down, make sure you have the whole message down on paper so that you can decipher it in the morning.
Then, with a word of thanks and thoughts of gratitude for the love and guidance of your spirit guides, drift back into sleep.

If you are not present, waking up at 4 am is a way to remind you that something is missing in your life.

To help others
If you don’t know what your purpose in life is, then helping others might be one path for you.
Helping others can also improve our relationships and life in general.
Before bedtime, think about what is now in your life that was not there a year ago or even earlier today? What did you learn today?
How do the things you learned make you feel? How do they apply to your job, your relationships, your life? What could you have done differently to make today more enjoyable?
Could you have done more to help some at work? At home?
Could you have helped a person in need on the street today? Would that action make you feel good about yourself?
If helping others is something that interests you, then here some things that might help you.
- Begin to look at others and see what is lacking in them that you can give to them. Think about how they benefit from your actions, or inactions when it comes to their life, job, relationships, etc.
- Helping others is not always about money. It is what you can give from your heart to help another that may or may not cost anything.
- There are ways you can help others without physically being there with them by using the Internet as one way of helping others.
- Doing kind things for others will make you feel good about yourself and for the person, you are helping as well. It may start with the little things, but those little things can grow into much bigger acts of kindness that will benefit both you and another in a positive way.

In March of 1993, I was 39 years old. Without going into all details, I ended up having open heart surgery, after beating the odds of several heart attacks prior to this surgery. I had a special person pray over me and it seemed, he felt like he should recite the 23 plasma, which I had only heard said at funerals. It caused a tear to run down my cheek, and I felt at peace. Having worked in the field, I knew the operating rooms were chilly. When I was rolled into the O/R, right after that prayer. I felt warm. When the staff put me on bypass, I was at complete peace. I had been agitated from being at another hospital prior and making it clear I would get off the gurney if someone didn’t call for an ambulance to bring me to the hospital I was at. I can only tell you I was on bypass for over 3.1/2 hours as the medical team did the procedure of giving me a triple bypass. I was above my body and them, in a large bubble with an angelic form, that had their arm around me, comforting me, telling me I had a reason for being here and, I would live to be a very old age, I had a mission to complete and I would be fine. No matter what, just remember this and I would not go home until I accomplished what I was put here for. To this day, I do the things I have always done, helping others in different ways. I do things others don’t believe. I am guided by my guardian angels and when I meditate, and pray, they show me what or who to help in various manners. I am aware, now 31 years later, and just having my first heart glitch. Another heart attack, and getting to an Emergency Dept. then being transferred to the one I originally had my bypass. The team was surprised I didn’t have any problems for this period of time. I spent December 23-26, 2022, in the cardiology unit. I know I have to go back in to have something fixed and it’s fine with me, because I have been reminded of all I was told. by the being standing with me and comforting me. I was allowed to hear everything the team working on me talked about. So I was able to repeat that to the main Thoracic Surgeon. He was a bit amazed and told me he believed I had a real and special experience without any doubt.. So I want to share, don’t give up, don’t be afraid, but follow your heart and spiritual guide, mine being an angel sent from Above
